Formable photovoltaic element keeps making headway
Following its successful launch at the BAU trade fair in Munich at the beginning of the year and after being awarded the Innovation Prize, the demand for the “cocu®PV” – a novel, multi-dimensional and formable photovoltaic element from BOEHME® SYSTEMS continues to forge ahead. In recent months for instance, many architects and planners both from Germany and abroad, showed great interest in the product. Several more concrete enquiries have by now progressed to the development and planning phase.
Design freedom coupled with sustainable construction: aspects which nowadays are of central importance when realising many contemporary construction projects. In order to meet these demands, BOEHME® SYSTEMS developed a novel building element with integrated photovoltaics – “cocu®PV”. cocu® stands for “complex curved”, i.e. capable of being shaped to suit many dimensions. The special feature of this particular innovation: the photovoltaic element integrates a flexible solar module inside a metal shingle, thereby creating a building envelope that doubles up for generating energy as well. Additional roof or façade elements are not necessary here. “cocu®PV" offers architects and planners in addition to energy efficiency primarily also ultimate design freedom. Thanks to its elasticity the new product from BOEHME® SYSTEMS makes it possible to realise the most unusual organic shapes. And because the photovoltaic cells are an integral part of the structure, the visual appearance of the building does not suffer from any further and excessive need for additional photovoltaic elements. Over the coming months the first projects will be implemented using “cocu®PV”.
